Well after seeing the popularity of thumpers and all, i went and checked out to see if the idea would work with other weapons, and as it turns out it works quite nicely.
I know this has been done before...but with factions out this build got a few wounderful props.
Attribtutes
Swordsmanship: 12
Beast Mastery:9+2
Expertise:9+3+1
Skills
Severe Artery:The only adrenal skill used in this build this starts the degeneration of your target.
Jaizhenju Strike:This and Pure Strike make up the damage of this build, not quite up there with the thumper but the degeneration from Poison/Bleed makes up for if not overpowers it.
Pure Strike: Same as Jaiz...the more damage the better.
Tigers Fury:9 Second attack speed booster, combine this with a zealous hilt for maximum efficiency.
Heal as One {Elite}: I noticed that Thumpers had no healing, well here ya go!
Since Swords attack speed is nearly twice as fast as a hammers, the zealous hilt provides more than enough energy. So there is no need for Ferocious Strike. Make sure you're below 75% health , remember your pet can be below 75% for this to work as well.
Poison Bite: Very imporant aspect of this build, this adds degeneration along with bleed totaling -7 degeneation, 14hp per second. Take that thumpers!
Charm Animal: Well there is not much to say about this.
Res Signet:Same as the above^^ Bring or die.
Equipment
Zealous Sword w/ +5 Defense Grip
-5 Dmg (20%) +30HP shield ( no need for the req, the mods are what count)
As for armor I chose Explorers armor, for one it looks nice and the health bonus is woundeful as well.
All in all this worked just as well for me as the thumper, the only thing lacking in it is the Knockdown, but degeneration kills runners just as much as KD anyhow. I still use a bunny thumper every once in awhile, this is just so much more fun ^^

A decent hammer thumper owns the damage on this build, completely. Heal as one is a terrible elite for a thumper, as they should be focusing on damage, period. The great thing about thumpers is that they are great for DPS, but their main function is continuous knockdowns. A fero+hammer bash or backbreaker thumper has huge DPS, but also knocks down foes on a fairly regular basis, making the degen from the sword simply... unnecessary.

Don't you need comfort animal incase your pet dies? Or does heal as one res as well?

agreed with everything ^^ but most importantly your build is missing KDs which are... useful

Use a -2/+45hp STANCE shield and sword, you should be in TF 24/7.

I was doing something similar in RA when I was bored before the Factions release. Worked well, for RA at least. This is a much better version of a sword ranger than what I used, and I think I'll try it when I'm bored too. Thanks!

The reason for the Ferocious Elite as has been mentioned is not for the energy (though that is nice), but for the Adrenaline boost so that you can spam knockdowns. Add in the deep wound from Crushing Blow and the typical hammer thumper is much more disruptive and damaging than your build. Additionally you have no speed boost or snare which I find even more important than usual as you will be battling for position with your pet.

An advantage thumpers have is the ability to inflict Deep Wound which is 10 times better than more degen...

Thumpers can take down anyone really, they should really focus on wilderness+hammer+expertise. Those three can kill ez. Watch hammer warriors on gvg and you will see why. one time I saw a hammer warrior take on a guild lord and win, alone.

Why would you put points into Wilderness Survival instead of Beast Mastery?...
